You have probably heard about the fighting between Israel and the Palestinians in the news -- two groups of people who both feel the land in question is theirs, and who have struggled over it for a very long time. If that is roughly all you know, good; that is exactly where we begin. By the end, you should no longer feel lost when the news mentions this conflict. You should know how it started, why it keeps going, and what the different sides want. What you make of it is yours.
The land at the centre of it is small -- you could drive across it in an afternoon. Nearly everything in this series happens inside that small space, or because people were forced out of it and spent centuries trying to get back.
